This type of cloud is generally accessible through an Internet connection and allows the user to visit a URL and login to the cloud.Before the cloud was made public, the infrastructure to utilize cloud computing required substantial capital and was beyond the reach of most small companies and individuals. Some of the early pioneers of cloud computing such as IBM, military organizations, and other government agencies developed the technology as a means to host their internal programs and data.In 1972, IBM created a private cloud so that data could be entered remotely. While it is much different than today's cloud computing systems, it was the first time a private technology company invested in what is today known as “the cloud.”The primary difference between a public and private cloud is access. The hybrid cloud infrastructure gives the client the security of a private cloud scaled down to the data they need stored. It also gives them the low cost and efficiency of the public cloud system.     Based on recent trends, the future of cloud computing looks bright. It is safe to conclude that every aspect of technology will be somehow linked to a cloud-based infrastructure in the years to come. Gaming, networking, email, calendars, and storage are all major components of our technology that is shifting to the cloud more every day. Where will we be in 5 years from now? Where will be in 20 years from now?

    By examining the exponential advances in cloud computing since IBM launched the first system in 1972, we can see that many improvements made in recent years are in part due to cloud computing systems.
